Blurred Visions
The Website
In 1999 I started Blurred Visions as an online reference source for vinyl record album collectors. For the first few years it was quite successful, with approximately 300 hits per month and quite a few inquiries from collectors and people who just wanted lyrics to a song or how to determine the value of their collections. But in the past 18 months to 2 years the hits have dropped off to near nothing, I haven't received any inquiries at all, and so felt the website had run its course.
I decided to change the focus of my website, and seeing as I've been an avid railfan since I was knee high to a 'jigger' (or 'speeder', for you uninformed folk) I decided to venture into the world of railfanning videos. I suppose being a model railroader may have also had something to do with the decision.
When I decided to go online, I wasn't looking for a fancy site with all the bells and whistles that would take forever for a visitor to load and browse. I wanted to keep it fairly simple yet as informative as possible. So, based on what I knew and learned as I went along, this is the result.
Blurred Visions (an actual for-real company) was
founded September 1999 in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada with an employee list
of one - me. I'm the one you can blame if you have a problem with
the website or its design (unless of course we can blame my ISP...); I'm the one who does all the
filming, editing and production work; I'm the one who cleans the windows in my home
office. It's a lot of work, but I'm enjoying it immensely.
Where did I get the name Blurred Visions from? Well, that's an easy question to answer (and it has nothing to do with out-of-focus images!).
We're all aware of the fact that as time goes
by our memories become less precise and perhaps a little more vague;
more
blurred
if you will. So we rely on photographs and video to preserve our history.
And because our pasts are most remembered for
what we saw or envisioned
well, the name kinda just fell together.
Besides, it has a nice ring to it :-)
Thanks very much for stopping by. I hope you've enjoyed your visit.
